I would have to say that i am a huge fan of The Cider House Rules. This was my first opportunity to watch this film and i am very glad that i did. If there is one thing that stands out about this story, it is its human realism. These are ordinary people struggling with problems we all face. We come to have affection for almost all of them, and can identify with their struggles. It was somewhat refreshing to see the rebeliong perspective of Dr. Larsh and his stance on abortion and desire for limited christianity in his facility. The abortion of Candi was such an intertesting scene and gave me perspective on womens movements and where we have come today. I enjoyed the love affair of Candy and Homer, also very unpredictable way that they meet and this film did not have to love story fairy tale ending. Despite the despicable act of Mr. Rose, i felt sorry for him in the end and found such beauty in how he insisted to not tell the cops that his daughter stabbed him but rather he freed her and payed the ultimate sacrafice for what he did to his daughter. I was very impressed with the ending, Homer was where he was suppose to end up. This was such a heartwarming and very intreging on the psychosocial perspective of live and human behavior and emotions.
Chapter 12 discusses the whole film analysitic perspective of a film. This film was made in 1999 but was based off the mid 90's era, and we say a collaboration of 90's film design with the primary focus of making it the time setting of the earlier 90's. The issues that political issues that arose in this film brought out interesting twist of this earlier time based film. The emotional or sensual approach is the more intellectual humanistic approach and was very pertinent in this film. The situautions or conflicts present in this film and where very unique yet ideal scenerios in which we deal with as humans in this life. This was a film that hit an emotional button while watching and it was a reminder that life can change in an instant and we have to adapt to life as it comes at us.
Chapter 13 discusses adaption. Adaption is a huge part of life and also with creating an excellent film. In this film, the part that sticks out to me the most is length of the film and depth of the material. This film was around a 2 hour film but it was packed with many siuations and highlighting points. I felt that what worked with this film was the very complex situations but these scenerios where not discssed in huge detail but rather to the point which created some mystery but kept the interest in the film high.
Chapter 15 discusess film and society, in which i feel that this was an important film for demonstrating the ways, behaviors, beliefs, and style in past society and how the past links to the now society. Film has changed the human culture and has become the source for how we live and will live in America and the World.
I really enjoyed this film. I felt like i gained alot of perspective of past women, doctors, orphans, and culture. I really enjoyed how the movie ended and how this film was a reminder that live doesnt always work out how we plan and sometimes we need to do the right thing for the sake of others in which will impact us on the positive level. This film was also an example of how good people make bad choices and all you can do is move forward and learn from your mistakes. Wonderful film. Great story. Great acting!
