The Kings Speech

The Kings speech is a historical drama about a King who is forced to overcome a lifelong speech stammering in order to gain the respect of his kingdom. This film was based on a true story about King George VI. This is a truly trying tale of a King who was not confident in himself and found a wonderful mentor, Lionel, his speech therapist. i found that the most inspirational moment was the scene sat down in the Kings chair and Pertie, the king, demanded that Lionel to get off the chair and Lionel resonded by asking why he should listen to him and the King shouted, "because i have a voice,' and Lionel said, "Yes you do." I felt this was the turning point in which Pertie gained and noticed his confidence to defeat his stammering issue and play his role as King.I enjoyed to see what an important impact the king's wife made in his success. I had a few laughs when the king would get frustrasted and start to yell, curse, and stammer and when he was watching Hitler on the television and was not focused on what was said but rather how he seemed so confident. It was very interesting to see the techniques used in order to try to break the stammering issue. I found this to be a very inspirational drama and i felt the acting was very excellent and i can agree that this was an oscar winning film.
Chapter 3 in the text book focuses on elements that make a good story. I felt that this film had a very interesting plot and carried a very unique and interesting story that was extremely interesting since it is based on a true story. I really felt like i was another character in this film, in which i could truely emphasize the struggles encountered by the King in his battle with speaking and also the lack of confidence by his members in his party.
I believe that the most significant component in this films value is the the conflicts present. Pertie was at battle or in conflict with himself, his speech therapist, and his role at being the King. Pertie's conflict with his confdence stemmed from his childhood, where he felt alienated by his father and brother. His confidence issues lead to him not facing the challenges of his speech issues and this later came back to haunt him when he was thrown into becoming the king of a nation that was soon to enter the war. In this battle to overcome this issue he began to fight with the man, lionel, who adventually lead him to overcoming his issue. I also believe that this film fit the simple yet complex component to a good film since it was a simple story line to follow but it had many angles of viewing perspectives.
In the beginning of this film, i had a hard time getting into the story line. This film is not an action packed movie but i did feel that it was a liitle dull. I was able to follow along in this film and yet it lacked excitment the story captured me with the intense conflict that the King encountered. I thought that the acting was amazing and i felt that they were extremely believeable and allowed the audience to feel the emotions in which their characters were trying to expose. I believe this was definately a movie to see but i will not watch it again on my own will, since it just was not that exciting but rather a great film to see once.
